How to plate Nickel on top of Tin plate ?

2000

I'm plating manager for a job-shop and we are processing lampholders or caps for electrical bulbs. These have to be brass plated and the most important area in the inside of the cap. We usually don¥t have problems, but lately the parts are being received with bright TIN on the inside of tha cap, (I imagine they buy tin plated one one side, sheets of steel to fabricate the parts) and we can't plate nickel on top of the Tin deposit, and we haven't found a good way to remove the tin plate without attacking the bare steel. Also we need to provide a bright finish on the inside, if we use to much acid the steel becomes dull when we strip the tin. Could we use the bright Tin as a base to obtain better brightness ? How can we prepare these parts for barrel Nickel and Brass plate ?

Thank you in advance

Enrique.

Amigo frustrado: Espero hayas solucionado tu problema y no te puedo ayudar. Cordiales saludos Richard
