Electropolishing of Plated Steel
2000
I have a stamped nickel-zinc pre-plated steel part that needs a better surface finish. The part is cup shaped and needs a finish of
30-40 microinches on the inside, vertical walls. As stamped, they are
65-85 microinches. Is there a plating process that would give me the good finish if I were to start with a plain steel? Or, would I be better off using electropolishing? Will this remove all of the plating? Thanks!
