Coloration of Nitride Parts

I work in the defense industry, my question is Nitride to AMS2753. Can you add a dye to the process or does it naturally come out black.

I'd say dark gray rather than black. My understanding is that the finest sidearms are salt bath nitrided and then subsequently black oxided for the advantages of salt bath nitriding plus a deep black color.
