Zinc Anode for Metal Railings

Will a zinc anode attached to a ferrous metal fabrication protect the steel in a similar manner as a zinc anode attached to a ship's hull? For this particular project, I cannot use hot dipped galvanizing or a zinc rich paint.

No, it doesn't work, Robert. You need an ionic (liquid) path between the two metals as well as the metallic path.
