Metal roofing ground contact

Can galvanized roofing be used to cover foundation insulation - that is, in contact with the ground?

Galvanizing is used on things that are in direct contact with the ground like ground rods, but sheet metal even with a galvanized coating will have a relatively short life in ground contact.
