How to increase surface roughness of zinc phosphate?

Hi all,

I have a steel plate assembly that required zinc phosphate coating. The coated assembly passed 70 hrs salt spray test, but the wear resistance is poor. Also the surface was too smooth for the assembly to perform its function. The friction resistance between coated parts are not enough. My question is how to increase surface roughness of zinc phosphate?
