How do I tarnish stainless steel

I am a decorative finishing contractor in the midwest. We have induced tarnishing to gold, silver, copper, tin, just about every metal out there but never stainless steel.
Can any help me out. I have 2 BQ pits in stainless that are painted, my client wants the paint strip-off & the stainless tarnish.
