Pretreatment of aluminum diecastings

We want to clean Aluminium die casting parts having oil/soil. If we use caustic solution, the parts become black and even after Nitric dip original shine doesn't appear.even after cleaning with other solution free from caustic or using solvents original luster of components reduces to a large extent. What is the best method to clean Al. die casting parts?

Aluminum is easily etched and discolored because it is very reactive with both strong alkalis and acids. The type of soil will determine the cleaning method to be used. There are many commercial cleaning products available. I would suggest contacting one of the many companies that supply finishing chemicals. You might do well to contact some of our advertisers here at this site to find a source in your area.

You can try mild alkaline soap and if you would like you can add some sodium metasilicate on eBay or Amazon [affil links] as booster.
