Welding Cor-ten Weathering Steel

My name is Clair Patterson in Salt Lake City, Utah. We custom build furniture. I would like to know if there is any special process in order to weld Corten Steel using MIG or TIG welding machines?

Thank you,

Clair:
I have welded cor-ten metal on several occasions and have used both stick with 6010 and 7018 rods and have also used MIG for it as well. I have not TIG welded any of it but I would not be afraid to do so.

In the welding I have done with cor-ten, it all has done very well. I have actually welded some cor-ten just recently that was used for boiler breeching. In this, the 6010 and 7018 rods were used with a DC welder.

I don't think that you will have any worries, regardless of what procedure you choose to utilize.

Good Luck!
