Stripping the silver chromate without hurting the silver deposit..

Hi there!

After we plate the silver, we apply silver chromate coating for tarnish resistant purpose.

I like to know the way to remove the silver chromate coating without hurting the silver deposit(in appearance and color) and reapply it.

The silver plated parts are not necessarily freshly plated.

I tried several methods, but the silver deposits after striping the chromate, do not retain the original silver color. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

hello jeff. do not think you can strip the chromate film from the silver, even if the chromate film has been freshly applied. contact your silver chemical supplier for a better answer.
