Chrome Plating of Die Cast Aluminium Components

Is there a way of Chrome Plating Die Cast aluminium components (LM24).

Hi Colin.

Yes of course can you plate chrome on die cast aluminium.

But there is a problem with the hydrogen gassing in the chrome solution, this hydrogen gassing will helps the chromium deposit to get a bad adhesion. Start with a non etch cleaner. Second step is a etching cleaner. Third step is a hydrofluoric acid etch. Fourth step is a nitric acid. Fifth step is a zincate etch. Plate chrome or get a nickel deposit on the part before chrome.
