Economics of tri alloy plating vs Ni plating on turned brass components

2006

Dear sir,
I have seen Trialloy plating on RF connector as alternative to Ni plating.
I want to know the economical side of this finish in comparison with conventional Ni plating for a medium scale industry manufacturing Rf connectors in India.
Thanks,

Paradkar GV

Hi Paradkar,
Tri-alloy plating of Cu, Sn, Zn can vary somewhat from supplier to supplier in relation to alloy percentages, so exact pricing is difficult to nail down. The tri-alloy deposit has some advantages such as better intermodulation performance and is more suited for some RF applications. Nickel has a longer shelf life and better wear resistance. I don't have an updated plating price chart handy, but a prospective tri-alloy chemistry supplier can give you the price per square inch cost at a given thickness. Compare it to the current cost of nickel plating. Good Luck!

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
