Best material to handle iodised salt

Edible salt, iodised is taken to a mechanical vibro-screen of 16 mesh. It is seen that the sieve made of SS - 316 is getting discoloured (yellowish within 15 days).
What could be the problem and how to overcome

Sudhish Chatterjee

The iron present in SS316 is highly attacked by both chlorine and iodine. The other ingredients which are responsible for its corrosion resistance (chrome and nickel), are also somewhat sensitive. Maybe you should look for a more resistant alloy (one that contains less or no iron at all).

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
