HVOF Spraying and Grinding

2006

Hi,

We are looking to HVOF spray and grind a MG cylinder for a tissue paper mill. The cylinder size is 3600mm dia & 3000mm face. We require the finishing to be very smooth therefore using HVOF. Our dilemma is how to grind the cylinder with what sort of belt. We will be applying 14 thou(0.3556mm) of metal and after grinding there will be 10thou(0.254mm)of metal remaining.

Would be grateful for any assistance with the above.

Thanks

HVOF can spray many materials. What are you going to use?
Not knowing what type of grinding you are referring to, belt grinding does not sound correct. Centerless grinding can handle the OD, but not the face. Can you explain what you have in mind?

Belt grinding of HVOF for a paper mill roll is absolutely the correct way to do it.
