Clear coating antique iron

I have an antique Broom maker that I am refinishing for a piece of furniture for my home the iron clever and cutting arms were badly rusted, I have sand blasted all the rust and then glass beaded blasted and I now have all my metal parts a white very light gray Iron product. I like the look of the metal as it is, can you recommend a clear coat that I can apply with out changing the natural beauty of this metal? It is date stamped 1897 so I'm almost sure it is straight Iron. Thanks for your help.

Wax or standard gloss clearcoat.
If you want to get really fancy you can use automotive clearcoat (I think). I'm not 100% sure that auto clearcoat will stick to bare iron, but it might.

I would just suggest trying a normal clear gloss and give it a few coats.
