White rust discoloration on galvanized roof

We have a galvanized steel roof that has 'white rust' spots on it. We DON't want to paint it. We simply want to clean-up the unsightly white areas while leaving the metal in its natural color. Will TSP [trisodium phosphate ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] ] safely clean the roof without painting it afterward? Also, is there any type of a spray on wax than can be used to help preserve the metal? Thanks.
