Pitting of silver plating on copper alloy

1999

Hello,

I'm plating silver onto copper alloy with thickness around 150 mil. And I'm having pitting problems on the silver finish. Does anyone know what is the cause of the problem?

Please help!

Thanks

A. Hi Deen.

Have you tried to filter the solution with carbon? And check the brightener, and analyze the carbonate in the solution if it is too high.

thumbs up sign Thanks, Anders.

Deen, there are other threads on this topic if you don't feel that Anders' answer is everything you need. See letter 42418 for more on silver pits, for example. Good luck.
