-----Aluminum finish or plating for hardness greater than stainless steel
1999
I need to finish an aluminum tube, for a heat exchanger, that will keep the good quality of Al in heat conductivity, yet have the strength of SS against scratch and also the inner tube should be very smooth 0.15 micron Ra or less.
What do you suggest? If to hone, than what kind of Al tube has the strength of SS against scratch , and who is making it.
If there is a solution with some kind of plating or coating, what is the best?

Hi, Gaby. Anodizing your tube or plating it with electroless nickel will make the surface harder than stainless steel. Regards,
