-----Cleaning of EN plated parts for Cleanroom packaging
1999
I'm searching for proper techniques for chemical cleaning of Electroless Nickel plated products for Cleanroom packaging. We're having a problem with staining. My operators seem to think it may have something to do with the packaging that is used.
The cleaning process we use is 1)Ultrasonic for 30 seconds. Temp set at 130 degrees. 2)Aluminum Soak 15 -20 seconds. Temp again 130 degrees. 3) Triple Rinse for 2 rinse tanks and the hot DI (temp set at 150 degrees.) Quick dry with air. From there parts are carried to the Gowning room Ultrasonic Rinse, temp set at 120 degrees. Parts are then quick dried again and are ready to package.
Stains have gotten progressively worse. Rinse tanks have been changed and the stains are still showing up.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your anticipated help.

Hey Kathleen,
The chemistry used in the Ultrasonic cleaner and the Aluminum Soak may need to be changed (you can control based on sq ft/gal). Has your vendor ok'd the products for the end use? You can also use canned air to check out your compressed air as a source of the problem (dryer failed and small amounts of oil getting by the safe guards).

We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
