How would I paint a picture on my brand new white fiberglass canoe?

I have a white 15' canoe of fiberglass. I am sanding an oval area on each side for painting a custom scene for a client.
I need to know what type of paint to use. What to seal it with and any other tips.

Although I'm no artist, I think what I would do is go to a boat store and get 'gel coat' resin and try mixing fabric dye or some other dye into it. Otherwise, perhaps epoxy paint.
