A problem with nickel - chrome plating on zinc substrate

2006

I have a problem with nickel-chrome plating on a zinc faucet. Firstly, I do EN plating in the solution of nickel sulphate 20 grams/liter, potassium pyrophosphate 50 grams/liter, sodium hydroxide to raise pH to 9.5. Then, I electroplate the faucet in a copper cyanide solution. However, the trouble always happens at the nickel electroplating process. The inner surface of the faucet seems not to be completely covered by the EN and copper electroplated coating, therefore zinc always dissolves in the nickel electroplating solution, making the nickel coating dark.
I would really appreciate if someone could help
