Selection of filter press cloth

2006

In our pretreatment unit, we are using filter press to remove the sludges in the degreasing unit. Sludge formed in degreasing media consist mixture of oil and powder enamel. This sludge is soft and sticky and we can not filtrate this sludge by using filter press. How can we increase the efficiency of the filter press unit, is there any mesh size or convenient cloth material for this kind of sludge.

Diatomaceous earth may help, both as a pre-coat for the press plates, and added to the batch to give all that paint stuff something to stick to.

A chemical treatment to de-tackify the solids may also help.
