May I know why boiling test at 4 hour 100 deg C is required? What is the purpose of this test

I would like to why for disk drive components what is the purpose of boiling water test.

It's a poor man's accelerated environmental test. If your parts fail the boiling water test, they will probably fail the required, expensive testing. Doing it will give you a "heads up" on quality issues.
