-----Powder coating stainless steel sink
I have a stainless steel sink and I would like to powder coat it. Will it withstand the water and use a kitchen sink gets?
Rita Flygar2006
A. Hi rita. Sorry, but it's very unlikely. Powder coating is too soft, too thin, and not corrosion-resistant enough. The coatings you see on cast iron sinks and some other metal sinks are ceramic (porcelain), not paint or powder coating. Porcelain is more akin to melted glass than to paint; it requires much higher temperatures and is significantly thicker and harder.
You could look into bathtub refinishing paint, but bathtubs don't get the abuse that kitchen sinks do.
