Storage Protection Products for Chromed-out Harley

Quickstart:
This thread discusses both desiccants (can of salts designed to pull moisture out of the air, like a dehumidifier) and sprays for corrosion protection of metal
A desiccant only has the capacity to pull the moisture out of a limited volume of air; it can be useful underneath a cover, or possibly in a small reasonably enclosed storage space, but can't help much out in the open.

Q. I'm storing a brand new Harley with lots of chrome, in my garage for the winter. On certain days when it gets warm, condensation sometimes gets on a bike, even though I have a cotton cover on it. I heard of a product called S100 Corrosion Protectant which is marketed by Harley Davidson.

I used to spray WD-40 on eBay or Amazon [affil link] on the chrome on my old bike and that worked, but it was always a mess in the springtime to clean it off. Has anyone had any experience or have any opinions on the S-100 product?

Update 2026: Hi John.

Sorry, no one has replied to your S100 inquiry in all these years, and it's not available from Amazon where I would be able to check the ratings. Perhaps a Harley forum mentions it.

But there are a number of competitive sprays highly rated on Amazon, including:
• ACF50 (4.7 stars) ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link]
• Boeshield T-9 (4.8 stars)
• CorrosionX (4.7 stars) ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link]

Of these, the Boeshield T-9 has been highly recommended by many readers on this forum over the years.

Luck & Regards,

A. I'd probably wax it if it were mine, but I'd also put one of those cans or tubs of desiccant under the cover.

Q. Where can I get a can of this desiccant ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] that you mentioned? I take it that it will remove moisture from the air under the cover, do you have any product names I can ask for. Thanks for your advice.

A. Hi, John. It's the same stuff that comes with consumer electronics gear and in aspirin bottles in those little 'sugar pouches' that say "Do Not Eat", except that you can buy it in a larger package. Good luck.

A. In response to John Boron, I found a website called "carbag.com". They have that desiccant you're looking for.

Ed. note: ZoopSeal no longer exists under that name; its inventor now calls the product ShineSeal on eBay & Amazon [affil link] .

A. I live on the northern Oregon coast. we get 88% humidity @ 35 deg.for weeks during winter. My bike's chrome and tanks condensate badly and want to grow rust. So I use three 60-watt lamps in steel coffee cans under the scooter and a product called Damprid and some other calcium chloride product called Dri Air ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] under the bike. It works. Tinker
