BUMPER PRIMING INFORMATION NEEDED FOR SCIENCE PROJECT

1999

To whomever it may concern:

My name is Kylie A, and I am a student at Southview Middle school, in Mpls. Minn.

In my 9th grade 'Tech 21' class, we have to make a model on how to prime a bumper for a car, without using our hands (so it must be operated by a machine). I was wondering if you could email me back with basic information on car priming.if you could find the time, that would be great!

PLEASE ASAP! I HAVE NO OTHER INFORMATION ON THIS SUBJECT. Thank you,

Kylie - The automated equipment necessary to do your project is the subject of a whole industry in finishing. Companies spend millions of $$ annually to prime automotive components. Sounds like your teacher is a little over the top -- without some Rube Goldberg type of robotic spraying mechanism. Good luck

Some priming is done by immersion in an electrocoating tank--so maybe the easiest thing to model would be to hang the toy car on string or wire to dip it in a little vat? You could probably do this easily enough with an erector set and water paints.

But as for having no other information, please don't tell me that neither your school nor the city of Minneapolis has a library! I'm sure you're supposed to do your own research rather than just ask someone on the internet to do your research for you :-)
