Benefits of Chrome Plating nails files, tweezers, etc. vs. Nickel Plating

Can anyone tell me what benefit is there to chrome plating implements such as nail files or tweezers? Is it better, worse, or the same as nickel plating? Thanks Debra

Hi, Debra.

We have a Chrome Plating FAQ that you might find interesting. When people say 'chrome plating' they usually mean the decorative process of nickel plating followed by chromium plating.

Nickel imparts a smoothness and brightness and a measure of corrosion protection. But following up with a subsequent layer of chrome makes the item "bluer" and brighter (nickel has a slight yellow cast), makes the item tarnish-free (nickel tarnishes), and greatly improves the corrosion resistance.
