CASS and Chrome Plating

Hi,

Q. I have a customer specified for 44 hours CASS Chrome finish with #400 grits. Can you let me where can I get the specs for 44 hrs CASS CHROME finish.

A. CASS means copper-accelerated salt spray. So this is not a spec for the plating, but is a spec for the accelerated corrosion testing which the plating must survive. Look into spec ASTM B368.

A. If you are looking for a chrome plating spec that meets the 44 hours CASS test, try to get General Motors spec GM4374M. it is published with GM4372M and GM4373M. Also ASTM B456, SC 5.
