How to plate fiberglass at home
Q. Hello,
I have a lot of ornaments made out of fibreglass resin.
I want to metal coat them in various ways, such as chrome-finish, gold finish etc.
Is it possible for me to do this at home, What specific chemicals etc should I use?
Thanks

A. We recommend that you do not attempt plating of any type at your home or small business. Electroplating is not a hobby, as some would like you to believe. Plastic can be plated, but, for your application you should work hard at finding a paint that provide a desirable finish. Plating on plastics in limited capacity is very costly. Do not consider. High volume application only. Regards.
