Powder coating aluminum castings

Is there a difference between using a polyester TGIC powder as opposed to an epoxy based powder for cast aluminum parts? I'm guessing that the polyester is much more durable and does not chip as easily.

As a rule of thumb, TGICs are used for outdoor applications, and epoxy's are used for indoor applications. This is because of the UV resistance of the TGIC and the chemical resistance of the epoxy respectfully, but it's also a broad generalization. Tell your powder supplier what the end use of your product is going to be and he will be able to suggest the best paint for it.
