Using salt solution to test for when rusting occurs

We ship casing overseas, and our cases are nickel plated. What is the standard when you apply the salty water spray test (sic), how long should it be before it rusts?

The "salty water test" is probably salt spray (CAS) testing and should be done according to the ASTM protocol (ASTM B117). It is up to the purchaser or manufacturer to determine what specification the product needs to be manufactured to.
