Colouring on stainless steel

Q. I had read quite a few articles being posted here similar to this, but there are many ways to obtain colour on stainless steel here, i.e., chemical solution mixture with sulfuric and sodium dichromate or some need chrome, heating steel with certain amount of moisture etc ...
Which is the better way to do so? I also learn about this book Dettner/Elze: Handbuch der Galvanotechnik [adv: this book on eBay, AbeBooks, or Amazon] electroplating handbook , four books. Where can I actually purchase it? And any other relevant books which are able to be purchased.

A. We have linked your question to copies of that book available to you. There is, of course, no such thing as a "better" process; you know that, Roy. Such concepts always depend on the situation, so you need to tell us about yours :-)

One pinhead size electronics part or a million truck bumpers? Tell us your situation please. Thanks!

Q. Hi Ted Mooney , I was required to plate colour on some stainless steel panel, size about 3 by 5 inches , I had never tried any form of plating on stainless steel part before so I do not know how to go about it. And I also hope to purchase some books or relevant reference that would help me to go about it , can you recommend any of it and where am I able to purchase it.
