Zinc Plating vs. Black Oxidizing

I am currently having spring steel parts zinc plated but am having a problem with brittleness. The parts are cracking. How good an option is Blackodising. Will it corrode and rust over time compared to the zinc plating?

Black oxide offers no corrosion resistance at all (except for the oil that is usually put on it). Spring steel parts should be properly baked for hydrogen embrittlement relief.
