Mr. Hartman:

Some readers object when I say this, but plating is a subject with so many facets, including pollution control, hazardous waste disposal, operator safety issues, etc., that it may be inappropriate to start with formulas and recipes. Instead, you might read some journals, browse through some books, probably attend some professional society meetings and seminars, perhaps take a training course, and possibly retain a consultant to understand the implications before you involve yourself with electroplating. Good luck!

Rhodium is a precious metal--a very precious metal far more expensive than gold--that offers a beautiful tarnish-free chrome-like look. Rhodium is exceptionally hard, so it has functional use in electronic contacts and similar applications as well. One of the biggest uses seems to be that it is plated on white-gold jewelry to give it a truly white look.
