-----Cabon steel fasteners used on Duplex Stainless steel flanges
2005
Hello there,
Is there is a possibility of Galvanic corrosion when Cabon steel fasteners are used on Duplex Stainless steel flanges.
Regards,

If the contact areas between the stainless and carbon steels are dry, there will be no electrolytic corrosion. With your humidity, I think you'd be relying on the system running above ambient temperature to avoid any condensation from the air.
Duplex stainless bolts are easy enough to machine up from bar stock if you can't get the right size off the shelf, and the yield strength of most duplexes is higher than that of most carbon steels so you don't have a problem concerning bolt strength.

We sadly relate the news that Bill passed away on Jan. 29, 2010.
Yes, there is a good chance of accelerated corrosion of the carbon steel, dependent on the stainless alloy type.

We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
