Eliminating microcracks during chrome plating process

Sir,
I know the microcracks are inherent to the chrome plating process however in our manufacturing process the microcracks are undesirable after polishing when the chromed part is placed under a 80x magnifier. But very rare we find some parts with microcracks after the polishing operation. What could cause it?
I have tried to simulate the problem with no success so far. The presence of this microcrack after polishing is very harmful to the quality of our product.
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks

There are very interesting papers published on the topic. You may find it useful to get a copy of the book Properties of Electroplated Metals and Alloys by W. Safranek.
