Finishing techniques for a steel motorcycle frame

Hello,
What techniques do people tend to use for the finishing of a steel motorcycle frame intending on being used in a show bike? Please could you state the obvious i.e., chrome plating etc and the not so obvious. Any help would be very greatfully received.
