Performing electrolysis between H2O and Methyl Alcohol

I am a kart racer and am looking on how to perform electrolysis between water and methyl alcohol. Is this possible or am I wasting my time?

You probably have something in mind that is clear to you, but not to me. Can you put this in context? Are you trying to make a fuel from a mixture (a compound?) of alcohol and water?
