Finishing Brass Doorknobs and Locksets

2005

I have recently stripped and polished all of the brass door knobs and locksets in my house. I finished one set of dummies with rustoleum lacquer as recommended by HomeDepot. These came out nice but a little rough on the leveling of the finish. I see you recommend brass lacquer ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] . I also see a product called Everbrite [a finishing.com supporting advertiser] which claims not to be a lacquer but better. Have you heard of this and if so, your comments please. Whatever the case I am looking for the shiniest most durable finish, as these will be handled frequently; something more self leveling than the rustoleum, and at the same time something that will not gum up the works of the locksets. Thank you.

Sincerely,

John Frank
