Can silver plating isolate solder from skin contact

I am using solder in stain glass jewelry making and as it contains lead I would like to know if silver plating or another kind of lacquer can be used to act as a barrier against the skin? Also, it has to be permanently durable.

Nickel plating will work better and cost less.
