Is it possible to chrome plate (decorative) on mirror finish stainless steel sheet
We are developing parts made from steel sheet that must be chrome plated. After learning that the parts require much polishing before the actual plating, I came up with the idea of beginning with mirror-finish stainless steel instead which will not need to be polished further before plating. The raw material cost is higher, but if it could be plated, the plating cost should be much lower. (The parts are 20 gauge thick.)

SS parts need the following sequence.
Electropolish .to a bright finish.
Clean
Activate
Strike in Wood's Nickel
Plate Bright Nickel
Plate Chrome.
This is an outline sequence. An experienced plating house can help you.
