Polished aluminum parade fire dept axe preservation

A local machine shop made us some polished aluminum fire axes to use instead of the heavy chrome plated axes. How can we preserve that high luster finish forever or at least a for long time.

If they are indoors and dry, they will stay bright for quite a long time. If the get a bit dull, pick up some Al polish at a car parts store and give them a rub. Aluminum polishes up easily and nicely.
