-----Removing oxide layer from nickel
2005
Hi,
I want to electroplate gold onto electroplated nickel and was looking for suggestions on how to remove the oxide layer, which forms on the nickel once removed from the nickel plating bath, in order for the gold to adhere to the nickel.
Thanks

A. Hi John. You should do the gold plating immediately after the nickel plating and a quick rinse. If you have on hand parts that are nickel plated and you want to gold plate them, you must do a "Wood's Nickel Strike" ⇦ huh? and then immediately plate them. Good luck.
