Colouring brass cartridges red or blue

I am looking for a way of colouring my brass bullet cases either bright red or blue. The one recipe I have uses potassium chlorate, nickel carbonate & nickel chloride but I can't find nickel chloride and the potassium is too expensive, someone suggested cobalt salts for blue but I don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, cobalt salts are a few times more expensive than nickel salts.
