Yellow staining (gold discoloration) of tinplated steel

2004

My question is regarding "gold discoloration" or yellow staining of tin plated steel. I have done work in this area and found the cause to be thicker tin oxide but several sources are possible (i.e long storage of non-passivated tinplate and higher lacquer oven temperatures. Does anyone have more information about it and other factors that cause this staining issue?

Thanks,

Mehrnoosh
