Get rust out of my water line

My water pipes are galvanize and there is rust every time I open the pipe or flush the toilet. Is there a chemical I can pass through the entire system to clean out this rust?

The reason for the rust is that your pipes WERE galvanized, most likely they no longer are, i.e. the galavanized coating has worn off. Your options, live with it, or replace it. If you do choose to replace it, use copper, it doesn't rust, it does oxidize, but doesn't rust in the same sense as iron or steel pipe.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
