Vapor Blasting stainless hardware a Viable Option?

I'm in the Architectural aluminum business and have a "too bright finish" problem with my fasteners on a project. I was wondering if vapor-blasting would solve this problem and impart a matte finish without destroying the stainless steel's protective qualities?

If the blast media is clean aluminum oxide or glass bead there should be no problem, however it might be safer to passivate after the vapor blast. this should not be too expensive since the passivation can be done in bulk on fasteners.
