Silver plating chemical process




I am a student in a chemistry class and my teacher wanted me to find out what chemical process takes place during silver plating. She could have easily told me, but she wants me to write to you kind of as an independent project.Sso if you could respond it would be most appreciated.

Your teacher wanted you to solicit contact with strangers on the internet to ask them to do your homework for you, Ryan?

More likely she actually wanted you to research the subject, either in books or on the internet. Anyway, the article to be electroplated is immersed in a solution that contains silver dissolved in ionic form, and the article is given a negative charge. That is, electrons are made available at the surface of the article. This attracts the positively charged silver ions in the solution and neutralizes (reduces) them to metallic silver deposited on the article.
