Is passivating ok for clean room use?

We are currently Nickel plating a frame that will go into a clean room. The ideal of making this frame out of SST. and then passivating it has come up as a cost savings compared to the Nickel plating. My question is, is passivating suitable for a clean room environment?

Yes, passivated stainless steel is appropriate for clean room use. Electropolished SS is even better as it is easier to clean (and more attractive too).
