A. Although it's out of print, "Preparation of Metals for Painting" by Samuel Spring [affil link on Amazon] is a book I've read that I can recommend as what you're looking for.

Other books that sound right, but which I personally haven't read are "Phosphating of Metals" by Werner Rausch [affil link on Amazon or on AbeBooks] and "Phosphating & Metal Pretreatment" by D.B. Freeman [affil link on Amazon or on AbeBooks].

Nickel plating is covered in every plating book on our "must-have" booklist. Or you can just download the Metal Finishing Guidebook ⇨
for a quick into to both subjects. Good luck in your studies.

A. Dear Jimy Zein,
The books on phosphate conversion coatings are:

Werner Rausch, "Phosphating of Metals", Finishing Publications Ltd., London, 1990.
Guy Lorin, "Phosphating of Metals", Finishing Publications Ltd., London, 1974
D.B.Freeman, "Phosphating & Metal Pretreatment", Industrial Press Inc., New York, 1986

A review paper on phosphating is available in Corrosion Reviews (Israel), 12(3/4) (1994) 201-238.
